In Belgium, you are entitled to full or partial reimbursement of the cost of medicines provided they are prescribed by a doctor and appear on the list of reimbursed medicines.

If you have an electronic identity card (i.e. with a chip), the doctor can record your prescription directly on your identity card, without giving you a paper version.
Here are the documents you need, depending on your situation:
The mutual insurance company pays the pharmacy directly through the third-party payment system. You will therefore only pay the amount remaining to be paid by you, known as the "ticket modérateur" or personal co-payment.
Go to any pharmacy with your prescription.
The pharmacist will ask you to pay for the medicine in full, and you must then claim reimbursement from your mutual insurance company.
To do this, ask your pharmacist for the "Annex 30" form. You will then need to send the original version of this document to your mutual insurance company:

Pharmacies are not open 24/7, but on-call pharmacies are available outside opening hours. It's important to check which pharmacy is on call when you need it. Note that without a prescription, the on-call pharmacy may apply surcharges.
