Enhanced basic health cover

In Belgium, it is compulsory to register with a mutual insurance company (mutuelle) in order to receive the reimbursements set by the State. This is known as compulsory insurance.

In addition to this compulsory insurance, Business & Expats Health Insurance offers a number of additional benefits (over and above those offered by Belgian social security) such as:

  • sports club reimbursement
  • contribution to optical expenses
  • a birth or adoption bonus
  • assistance for urgent care abroad
  • and much more besides.

This supplementary insurance gives your employees basic health cover with a host of added benefits. As an employer, it's a major asset when it comes to rounding out your employees' salary package.

Optional insurance for optimum protection

Because no one is immune to health problems and medical care is not always adequately reimbursed by social security, Business & Expats Health Insurance also offers optional insurance to complement the basic cover.

Hospital insurance

Birth, surgery, illness, accident... we're all affected at one time or another. Business & Expats Health Insurance offers different types of hospital insurance to meet the needs of every employee:

  • Contribution of up to 100% for doctors' surcharges
  • Coverage of medical expenses 30 days before hospitalisation and 90 days after hospitalisation
  • Reimbursement of room supplements up to €80/night
  • Reimbursements of up to €7,000/year excluding hospitalisation for 33 critical illnesses if you take out the Critical Illness cover option.
  • No annual reimbursement ceiling
  • Contribution of up to 200% for doctors' surcharges
  • Coverage of medical expenses 60 days before and 180 days after hospitalisation
  • Possibility of staying in a single room
  • Reimbursements of up to €7,000/year excluding hospitalisation for 33 critical illnesses if you take out the Critical Illness cover option.
  • No annual reimbursement ceiling
  • Contribution of up to 300% for doctors' surcharges (except for hospital day care)
  • Coverage of medical expenses 60 days before and 180 days after hospitalisation
  • Reimbursement of room supplements up to €125/night
  • Reimbursements of up to €7,000/year excluding hospitalisation for 33 critical illnesses if you take out the Critical Illness cover option.

You don't yet offer hospital insurance as part of your salary package?

If you choose one of these types of insurance, you will be financially responsible for insuring your employees and/or members of their household. But you will take out the insurance in the employee’s name, so they can keep their health cover (by paying for it themselves) even if they leave your company or retire.

Do you already offer hospital insurance to your employees?

We also offer a hospitalisation waiting policy: Hospitalia Continuité. This cover allows your employees to remain covered even when their professional situation changes (loss of job, retirement, etc.).

They will be able to benefit directly from the advantages of the hospital insurance of their choice: Hospitalia, Hospitalia Medium or Hospitalia Plus:

  • Transfer without waiting period or medical questionnaire
  • Without paying an additional premium linked to their age at the time of the transfer
  • Up to €50 additional reimbursement per day of hospitalisation for anything not covered by your employer's insurance scheme

Dental Insurance

Preventive and curative treatment, crowns, implants... dental care is expensive and is not always reimbursed by social security in Belgium.

  • Up to €2,200 reimbursed, depending on the type of treatment
  • Specific cover in the event of an accident or cancer: up to €4,000 reimbursed
  • No medical questionnaire
  • No waiting period in the event of an accident or for preventive care
  • Free for children aged 0 to 3
  • Dental care covered in Belgium AND neighbouring countries

This insurance can also be added to your salary package, encouraging better dental health!
